I want to start a diesel performance parts store, is this a bad idea?
I fear that the raising gas prices and scarcity of crude oil will make gasoline and diesel powered vehicles obsolete. Keeping this in mind, would trying to get in that line of business be a bad idea and just a bankruptcy waiting to happen or is it far enough off into the future that I shouldn't worry too much about it?
I have also thought of doing something more medical/fitness related, but my biggest interest is in diesel performance. So thats why I'm not sure if I should go with my first interest or go with the safer option...
*I understand that the fuels might not completely go away, but at some point they will become so expensive that people won't want to spend money customizing their diesel vehicles... is that still far off probably as well?
Usually the best way to know if a business idea is a good one is to not spend your own money or take a loan, but get investors. If you can convince other people that it is a good enough idea for them to spend money on then it probably is. Plus, you're not risking your own money at least not a majority of it.
Can I Get Some Recommendation for Diesel Performance Parts?
I have a 02 Ram 2500 with the 5.9 Cummins. I want to do a few things like install the column gauges, chip, exhaust, ect. In addition, it has a factory lift of like 3 inches maybe, but I'd like to take it up a little higher. Nothing extreme, but maybe another 3-5 inches.
The problem is this is my first diesel and I know nothing about any of the performance manufacturers out there. I'd appreciate if I could get some suggestion and any advice from anyone whose taken on this particular project.
BTW the truck has 160K. Will that be a problem for any of the mods I'm looking to make?
Invest in a good transmission first off or have money set aside for it. Get rid of the muffler to help it run cooler/stronger and there are a lot of tunes/performance chips out there for your truck like Bullydog or Edge to list a few. As for lift kits look into Tuffcountry or Ranchero and there are plenty other brands. If you put bigger tires on I would suggest changing the gear ratio too.
Chevy performance parts for a 6.2l diesel?
im looking to build a 6.2l diesel motor out of my suburban. I wanted to know if there's a website that sells diesel parts? crank, rods, pistons, arps, hgs, and cams. maybe valve train. thanks
Generally don't modify diesels the same way you would a gas engine. Since diesels typically run very high compression ratios and combustion is achieved through compression alone, the stock internals are usually *very* robust. And since diesels typically operate below 4000 RPM or so, aggressive cams are pretty much out of the question. I get the idea that you aren't totally familiar with the traits of the diesel engine. If I were you I'd be looking for a turbo kit, Banks probably makes one for your application. Diesels love turbos.
Where can i find performance parts for my turbo diesel?
Bullydog is known for diesel performance.
